George Garofalakis

George is a Senior GIS Consultant and Urban Planner based in Luxembourg, and co-founder of SpaceViz. He holds a Master’s in Urban Design from UCL’s Bartlett School of Architecture and advanced studies in GIS and Cartography from VU Amsterdam. With a decade of experience in urban design, spatial data analysis, and project coordination, George has led impactful projects across the UK and internationally, including winning the 2017 RIBA President’s Award for Research for his work on London’s Local Character and Density.

Currently, as Project Coordinator for Horizon Europe at UniSystems, George is leading an AI-driven project to enhance personalized learning using advanced technologies like NLP and Machine Learning. His expertise in GIS, urban planning, and AI aligns with EU initiatives in smart cities, environmental monitoring, and spatial data applications, positioning him as a valuable asset in shaping sustainable urban development and innovation in Europe.

Alexander Alexiou

Alex is a foresight and design strategist based in London and Rotterdam and the co-founder of SpaceViz. He holds a degree in Urban Planning and Regional Development from the University of Thessaly in Greece.

Over the past decade, he has held roles in leading organizations in the built environment industry, including design and sustainable development firm Arup, architecture and design firm Gensler, and design and engineering firm Buro Happold. He has worked with public and private sector clients across industries to explore plausible futures, make sense of uncertainty, and shape long-term strategies and planning.

His work bridges disciplines and spatial scales, embracing both the tangible and the speculative to reveal hidden patterns, challenge conventional approaches, and offer new perspectives on how spaces, places, and systems evolve over time.
